Celebrate!

Here in the good 'ol USA
we are getting ready to celebrate
our independence.
On July 4th we'll be seeing all kinds of
red, white & blue,
fireworks,
picnics,
ice cream socials...
....all kinds of fun events.

A little while ago,
my sweet blogger friend,
sent me her pattern for her celebrate mug rug.
It was just the thing I needed to cheer me up.
(thank you again, Amy!!)

So here's my version of Amy's awesome pattern.

When you look at Amy's mug rug
you'll notice mine looks a bit different.
Why, might you ask?
Well, true to Cindy form,
I didn't read the directions correctly.
(I'm always in a hurry)
I cut the main body of the fabric smaller than it should have been.
Whenever an oversight like this happens,
I remember what a fellow quilter once told me,
"There's never a mistake in the world of sewing.
Just opportunities to create something unique"
So that's what I did!

Since I made the mug rug with a patriotic theme,
I thought it would be fun to use my metallic thread to do the quilting
and a little extra embellishing.

I'm sure this doesn't surprise you,
knowing I'm a 'bling' girl!

I variegated the letters in 'Celebrate'.

I also, for the first time,
I have never, ever done this before,
but I am so pleased on how it came out!

The instructions were great
and I had absolutely no problem at all
figuring it out.

I thought it would be fun to take a picture of this mug rug
in my old wheel barrel full of red, white & blue petunias.

And while I was a it,
I took more pictures in different flower pots.

I'm not quite sure why I put the red star in the mug rug.
I think I was having a moment.
If I were to do it over again,
I would leave it out.

Thank you SO much again, Amy!
I can't wait to make another one!

I would also like to take a moment
to express my heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends
of the 19 firefighters in Prescott, Arizona.
19 lives were taken yesterday trying to fight a wild fire.
True hero's.
My thoughts, prayers and a heavy heart are with you all.

Celebrate your family and friends.
Love them and let them know how much they mean to you.
To all of you, thank you for taking the time to read
my little blog.  I appreciate you!

God Bless,
Cindy

PS...this post about Amy of eamylove is purely of my own doing.  Just a thank you to a special gal!

Absolutely adorable. You had me the second I saw the bunting, and that metallic thread is GORGEOUS!

Happy 4th of July to you and yours Cindy. I'll be slaving away at work while you're celebrating.

Even while we mourn the loss of those fine firefighters, we remember how fortunate we are to be free. Such a darling version of this design, and the sparkly thread add so much! Thank you, friend!!!

I love the mug rug!! I still have yet to sit down and try one out..im getting there.

The loss of those brave firefighters is a true symbolism of the type of spirit that makes this country great. Those brave and selfless souls. May they rest in peace.

Peace and love to all,
Donna
