Blogger's Quilt Festival October 2012

I think I made it in the nick of time!

When I saw Amy from Amy's Creative Side was starting up again,
I knew I had to finish my Facade quilt,
which was a workshop hosted by

So here is the big reveal!

I am SO in love with this quilt.
The quilt has been done for quite some time.
I just didn't have the binding on.
(bad me!)
So last night I was running a sweat shop in my sewing room.

All I could hear while I was working on it
was Larry the Cable Guy saying,
"GET 'ER DONE!"
And I did!

I used Julie Herman's tutorial
(as always!)
for the binding.
If you're ever interested in using her
perfect binding tutorial
you can find it

I LOVE it because it doesn't leave you with any bulk when your binding
ends come together.
You can't even tell where they stop and start.

So,
between Rachel and Julie
I made this little beauty.
Thanks, Gals!!

The fabric is Ruby by Bonnie & Camille.

If you are interested in the Facade pattern,
you can find it here.

Here's a close up of the awesome quilting.

And the quilt spread out in all it's glory.

And for fun,
I thought Mr. O'Lantern would like to snuggle a bit.
(excuse the dead flowers....it's fall!)

Mouthy Stitches Swap Love!

Good morning!

I couldn't wait to post about this.
After a long day at work yesterday,
I got home to find the most awesome package in the mail!

It was the perfect ending to the day.
I received my tote from the
It was another FABULOUS swap.

I was the LUCKY recipient of this gorgeous bag from Margaret.
You can check out her lovely blog by clickiing

Now check this out:

From the minute I saw this bag,
I knew it was mine!
(Hello??? It's the perfect pink!)
Everything about it is pure love.
When I opened the package,
the tote was wrapped in the blue fabric sticking out from the top of the bag.
My heart did sink a tad,
because I really, really thought the pink tote was for me.
Well that Margaret is a tricky gal!
(a gal after my own heart there)
I tore that fabric off like it was Christmas!

With it came this adorable hexie key fob.
How flippin sweet is this?
And the hand stitching on all of it...
LOVE!!!!

Margaret....thank you so very much again!
I hope you know how thrilled I am to get this work of art!
xoxo

OH!
I also finished by Ghastlie wall hanging.
It's so much fun to pull things out of your scrap pile to put something together.

The pompoms are just a fun little added touch.

An here it is in it's new home.

Enjoy your day!

Friday Night Sew In

I have a quick post to share today!
Lots to get done.
Groceries, helping at the in laws and a Halloween party tonight.

Last night was the monthly Friday Night Sew In.
I had some help from my "homies".

My lovely little girl, Oreo.

My 'energized' gal, Sadie

And with their help, I was able to create this "Ghastlie" wall hanging!
I bought this fabric (The Ghastlie's) last year,
so I fussy cut a few of the 'family' members,
scrounged through my scraps for fabric to put with it,
and came up with this little goodie.

By the end of the weekend I will have it quilted and hanging in
it's new spot in our livingroom.
I'll make sure to share pictures when it's done!

At least I'll have a little time to show it off before Halloween is over.
:o)

I hope you all have a beautiful weekend!

Fat Quarter Shop

My lovely blogger friend, Amy,
did a post the other day about the Fat Quarter Shop
and their contest they have going on called

I thought,
"What the heck, I'll give it a whirl".

Amy won her bundle she built
which you can see in her blog post here.
I absolutely love what she put together!
And if you haven't visited her blog yet,
you really should.
 It is incredibly inspiring.

So here are the bundles I came up with.
I'm kind of partial to the blues.
You also have to name your bundle.

Picnic in the Jungle

Blue Skies at the Zoo

Pepe Le Pew Meets the World

The Fat Quarter Shop tells you the "fabric of the week"
as their choice, and then you are to find
two other fabrics to go with it.
I bet you can guess which fabric
is the Fat Quarter Shop's pick!
(click here to make sure you guessed right!)

You can take a look at the Flickr group here to check out the bundles
others have created.  There are so many nice ones!

If you are interested
(which you should really give it a try!)
you can click here for the rules.

Go for it!

Fall!!

I had to share a design I created for a friend of mine.

I'm going to start off with a couple tiny peaks.
I stamped some green grass on the mini quilt after it was appliqued
and added raffia to the tops of the pumpkins.

(sorry for the blur.  I didn't realize I wasn't focused...maybe I should put my glasses on when I do this)

And the other side

And a little bit of stitching

Now for the grand finale!

I just love this little fella!
He's now in his happy new home
(I'm glad he went to a good home...it's hard to send these little cuties off)

I think I may have to make one for myself.

Happy Fall Y'all!!

Mouthy but Nice!

Did the title get your attention?

hee hee

I wanted to do a quick post
showing you what I've been working on.

I've been stalking someone over the past couple weeks,
but not in a weird, "I'm watching your every move" kind of way.
It's more like,
"let me make sure I get this right so you love it" kind of way.

I'm in the Mouthy Stitches 2 swap.
We're making totes for this round, which I think is great.
A quilter/crafter can never have too many totes!

It's a secret swap, so my partner doesn't know who I am.
(I love being sneaky like that)

Here's what I've come up with so far.
This is going to be the back.
(Some Patrick Lose Fizz  - I LOVE his stuff - and a nice white fabric)

And now....the front.

The little fishy could possibly be covering up a name.
We were to make a key fob to go with the tote.
I used some of my Heather Ross fish fabric
(I love those fishy's in a bag!)
which is an out of print line now.
I'm so glad I had a few fish to share!

So here's a close up of the key fob.

I'm thinking my partner might like the fish,
but we will see!

So that's the skinny folks.
I've been held captive in my sewing room.
But it's OK.
They treat me well here.

Have a good one!
xoxo

Snappy Wallet

Hey!
How are you?

I'm still busy sewing away,
but you won't get any complaining from me on that subject.

I will tell all my blogger buddies who are getting ready for Market,
"this too shall pass!".
I'm sure right now for you sewing might feel like a bit of a pain.
For me, it's all fun and games,
but for those getting ready for Market,
it's now a mad rush to the finish.

My latest project was a Snappy Wallet.
I found it in the Summer 2012 issue of Stitch magazine.
If you're interested, you can purchase it here.

I am on the auto ship program for Stitch.
It's always nice to get a surprise in your mailbox that sparks creativity,
rather than a, "What the heck?? I thought I paid that bill!" reaction.
Don't you think?

I'm so going to make the bag on the front of this cover too.

So here's the cute little Snappy Wallet.

I used some of my Sis Boom stash to create this little beauty.
(Thanks, Melissa, for getting me hooked on Jennifer's gorgeous creations!)
The instructions were good, however, I am a visual person
and much prefer diagrams over verbiage
when working on patterns.
(A big THANK YOU to my sister, for helping me in my frustration to understand what the heck they were saying!)

OK
You guessed it.
Yes, I love a book with pictures rather than words.
I love looking at the photography in a magazine
rather than reading how Brad & Angie,
or Jennifer & Justin are in secret meetings with each other.

The inside of the wallet has a place to hold your coins.

And, of course, a place to hold your big bills.
(Some day I hope I have big bills to put in a wallet!)

I'm also working on more swap items,
which I'll be posting about later in the week.

By the way,
this is my first time using my Photoshop Elements
for my photo editing.
I have SO much to learn with that
(I'll be in line for the Photoshop Elements for Dummies class)
but overall I like these photo's a lot better.

Happy Creating!!
xoxo

Kindle Case

A quick post today!
I have lots of sewing to do
and I have no doubt you do too!
Either getting ready for the holiday's,
or I know a lot of you are working on things form Market,
it's all a bunch of sewing goodness!
I recently made a kindle case for my mom to use for her Kindle Fire.
I used Melissa's pattern, which you can find here.

And the lining:

I used a fabric line from Free Spirit,
and for the life of me,
I don't remember the name!

I will update you in my next post with that information.

This pattern went together so easily.
(as with all of Melissa's patterns)

I hope you all have wonderful day!
I'm hoping to have lots of finished projects to share with you this week!!

Swaps & More Swaps

Who is the luckiest gal ever???? That would be me!! Thank you so much, Megan!! I love it all !!!! Oh...one chocolate bar may be gone...not sure how that happened. :o) by cindys0707

So this photo of yummy goodness is what I received in the Pretty Little Pouch Swap I participated in.  I absolutely LOVE everything about it!!!  My partner was Megan.  Boy...did she hit the nail on the head with this one.  It was perfect!
And here is what I sent:
(the back)

And the front.

My partner for this round was pretty quiet,
so I had a hard time figuring out what really made her tick.
I ended up looking and looking at the mosaic she created for the swap
and took a few of the things she liked and incorporated them into the pouch.
(which is why I stamped on the pouch, "My Favorite Things")
I was very pleased with how this came out.
And I have to tell you....
after I received my pouch,
I see why she was so quiet!  She was busy creating the perfect masterpiece!
And boy how I seriously love the pouch she made for me.
It's perfect!
You can click here to check out all of the beautiful pouches created.
It was a great swap!
I also participated in Amy of During Quite Time's swap Table Talk Swap.
This was loads of fun too!  I love making those fabric baskets.
This is the GORGEOUS basket I received from Jana (aka megmormel on Flickr)

I think she figured out I like pink!
(thank you SO much, Jana!!)
I mean, seriously, pink bubble gum to boot!!!
How rockin is that?
SWEET!
But didn't she do a beautiful job on the basket?
And the cut little notebook holder?
I'm in love!!
So I bet you're wondering what I sent,
Well....
Here it is!

Along with the basket I made a hexie case from Amy's pattern I purchased here.
I do need to make another one of these.
For the fabric I used Sunkissed and Denise Schmidt's Flea Market Fancy.
I LOVE it!
I hope you've been able to do something fun!
xoxo
