February Finish

Hello World!

Can you believe this is the end of February?
It has been one crazy month.
I did manage to finish,
in the nick of time,
my project for the Flickr group

Remember this awesome Don't Be Crabby fabric bundle I won from

And my last post telling you I was going to
make a quilt using Rachel from ps i quilt's
pattern, Smitten?

I can't believe it,
but after sewing 128 of these
(along with a few other steps)

(did I mention the process of cutting squares and drawing a line on the diagonal
then sewing it on a block
and cutting it
is one of my very least favorite things to do?)

But I was a trooper
and did 128 of them.

Was it worth it?
Oh....my...gosh....
YES!!

See?

I am SO loving this quilt!
With Laurie's fabrics
it is just perfect!!

And I have enough pieces left to make a fabric basket
and a pillow.

I cannot wait to have this quilted
and bound.
This is one of my most favorite quilts I've made yet.

Here's my favorite little cutie

That little aqua houndstooth crab...
that little fella melts my heart!!

For the border I used some fabric I had in my stash.
I apologize for not knowing what the name of it is!
But I love the red and I love how the little swirls in the blue look like waves.

Once it's all complete it will be going to my very dear friend,
who's little baby is now 8 months old.
But I think once she sees everything, she won't mind I was so late.

I have to tell you,
while working on this beauty
I caught up on Nashville
(I LOVE this show!)
by watching it on Hulu.
Oh yeah...Rena and Decon....
love me a little country action!

And I also watched Season 1 and 2 of
Oh my....I am hooked!!
If you have not seen this,
you need to.
Best.....show.....ever.

Stay tuned this weekend.
I have to share what I received in
AND
an awesome pattern I won from
my friend Stephanie.

What have you been up to?
I'm off now to read the blogs I haven't had time to read.
What a month!

Sew Sew Modern Swap

I participated in a new swap.
It's called the Sew Sew Modern Swap
and you were to make something spectacular
(since we had 3 months to make it in!)

If you have a moment,
take some time to look at our Flickr group

Everyone did an absolutely outstanding job!

I haven't received my swap yet,
but my partner should be receiving her's today.
(if the tracking report is correct, that is!)

A pillow was first on her list.
Using a tutorial I found from Little Miss Shabby
I made this pillow

The tutorial for the star can be found
I used Innocent Crush by Anna Marie Horner.
I don't have the name of the text print fabric, darn it!

For the back of the pillow, I also used Innocent Crush,
but I used an AWESOME tutorial by Amy of eamylove.

Can you believe there is a zipper under there?
LOL
You can find the tutorial to make this covered zipper on Amy's blog

We were also to make a 'small' item to send along.
I chose to make Melissa's, of 100 billion stars,
Easy Street bag.
I LOVE this patter for something quick, yet classy, to make as a gift.

You can find the pattern for the bag

If you've made any of these items I've posted today,
I'd love to see your version!
Let me know!

Make it a good one!

Triple Zip Along

I finished by pouch last night for the
hosted by Debbie of
(don't you love this blog name?)
I so appreciate Debbie's time she put into the
tutorial and hosting this fun project.
I can't wait to make another one.
There's still time to go
sign up if you would like to have a chance for
some awesome prizes!

It is such a beautiful, sunny day today
and the sunlight is just pouring in my sewing rom
(which I LOVE).
So here's another picture

I'm very happy with how this came out
and I love the colors I chose for this.

Even this it's flippin freezing outside
I'm enjoying the beautiful sunshine inside.

I'm sure you're wondering what
I'm going to use this little beauty for.
Well, I thought it would be handy to
keep all my yo yo & flower makers together,
along with my needle, thread and needle threader.

I woke up with a horrible headache,
which thankfully has gone away
and now I can go about spending the day in my sewing room.
Until the Super Bowl starts, that is.
Yes, this quilter loves football.
I would watch the game in my sewing room,
but being the nice person I am,
I gave up my satellite so the guys could have it in the man shed.
In the end
I am the victor.
They stay out in the man shed,
which frees me up to be in my sewing room.
And they are none the wisher about my little plan.
They think I'm just a sweetie because I gave up the satellite.
Little did they know......

A Lovely Year of Finishes

I joined a Flickr group titled

I thought this would be a good kick in the behind
to keep me focused on what I need to
accomplish this year.

Well, as luck would have it,
I missed signing up for January,
so I am making sure I don't miss February!

My goal for this month is to get the quilt top
done for one of my very dear friends who had a
baby a few months ago.

I'll be using the fat quarter bundle I won
from Laurie Wisbrun
called, "Don't Be Crabby".
This line is perfect for a little boy!

I will be using the pattern Smitten by Rachel Griffith.
I think it's going to be pretty darn cute!

One of my goals for the year
was to downsize on things in my life.
I've been paying attention
to things that are taking me away from
truly enjoying life....
you know....
keeping me from spending time in my sewing room.
:)

So here's to A Lovely Year of Finishes
and the freedom to get them done!

Also, don't forget to check out this month's project for the
over at Amy's blog.
She's the hostess with the mostess this month!

We'll be chatting soon!
xoxo
